The daughter of a composer of classical music and actress Miss Maria started ballet lessons at the age of six at the School of American Ballet (NYC Ballet). She continued her training at The Royal Ballet School in London, England and then with private coaches Maggie Black, Marjorie Mussman and Gabriella Taub- Darvash in New York. She danced professionally with regional companies throughout the United States.
After completing her University degree Miss Maria started teaching dancers of all ages from 3 yrs to 70 and enjoys sharing her passion for classical ballet to anyone who would listen. Her philosophy is that of Sylvie Guillem, “Technical perfection is insufficient. It is an orphan without the true soul of the dancer”. In 2008 Miss Maria moved to Muskoka with her husband and daughter and was delighted to find the focus and talent and “soul” of the MDC dancer . Along with teaching the refined movement of classical ballet Miss Maria places great emphasis on conditioning for dancers. She has completed her certification in STOTT PILATES in Mat and Reformer.
